One of our most popular Ice Skating Coaches, Lana first began skating as a toddler back in native Canada. “After being trained in figures, free skate, ice dance and synchro, I began coaching as a teen whilst competing both nationally and internationally. Later I went on to skate internationally in ice shows before studying Sports Science and Athletic Therapy at University. After moving to Australia, I returned to coaching 7 years ago and love to teach and share the passion for skating with skaters of all ages and abilities.”

I fell in love with teaching in Anchorage, Alaska in 1996. I teach a diverse variety of ages and abilities, off ice and on ice training, specialising in movement, flexibility and creative storytelling while combining technical and artistic abilities.

Adam Zalegowski
Private Ice Coach
Originally from Poland Adam was the Polish Junior National Champion competing at International level (Jr. World Championships and Youth Olympics).
Now with a Masters Degree in Physical Education, Level 2 Coach in Australia and Level 3 Coach in Canada, Adam’s primary motivation is to maximise every skater’s potential and help them achieve their best.
Specialising in the pole harness jump techniques, Adam has assisted athletes from juniors through to senior national and international, across all levels.

Elise Vaughan
Elise is a Figure Skater with extensive skating experience in Competitive and Show Skating. She is an APSA Accredited Coach with the vision to share her skating knowledge in a fun and supportive environment, ensuring that learning and developing skating skills is inclusive. Elise is actively competing as a representative of Ice Zoo Skating Club on a local (NSW State Champion), national and international level including the World Winter Master Games and ISU North America Competitions (Silver Medalist).
Elise has partnered with local and international Coaches and Skating Associations to run Seminars and Camps and is dedicated to building the profile of the sport and developing athletes of ages. Most recently, she was the recipient of the NSW Sport Female Leadership “Get on Board”Scholarship. Outside of skating Elise loves Art, Design, Music and Dance and also works as a Creative Director in Advertising, Fashion and Beauty. She holds a Diploma of Youth Work and looks to empower and change the lives of young people through advocacy, strategic initiatives and creative therapies.
Elise specialises in Singles, Dance and Program Choreography for competitive and recreation skaters of all ages and is available for private or semi-private lessons.

Tya is a former professional figure skater who spent seven years touring the world with Disney On Ice, portraying beloved characters such as Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, and many more. With over 22 years of figure skating experience, Tya brings a wealth of knowledge, artistry, and passion to her coaching.
An APSA Level 1 accredited coach, Tya specialises in developing beautiful lines, body movement, and alignment—both on and off the ice. She places strong emphasis on edge quality, which forms the foundation for all aspects of figure skating, from jumps to spins.
Tya believes deeply in the artistry and expression within skating and encourages her students to discover the beauty, creativity, and joy that make figure skating a true art form.

Austin Matthews

Austin Matthews is a Level 2 IHA Hockey coach.
Austin first skated as a toddler in Canada, his country of birth, however has embraced Australian Hockey since his arrival.
Austin coaches state level teams and is committed to continuous learning about skating and hockey, so that he can pass his joy of hockey onto others.

Scott Weekes
Speed Skating Coach Skate Academy
Scott is an experienced short track speed skating coach with a strong focus on developing athletes from beginner level through to high performance.
He is currently Head Coach of the Sydney Arrows club and NSW State Team. Australian Coach at the 2016, 2020, 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games and National Coach at multiple World Cups and World Championships. 2018 and 2023 National Coach of the Year.
Scott has a Masters in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) and works with athletes to reach their maximum potential.
